Ostap Kovalchuk was born in 1973 in Kiev.
Ostap began education in Republic art school be the name T. Shevchenko in Kiev in 1985.He finished school in 1991 and entered to National Academy fine art and architecture (NAFAA) in 1992. He graduated from Academy in 1998, faculty painting, studio of theme painting, management by academic Lopuchin. From 1998 until 2001 he has been a post-graduate student. His teacher was academic Lopuchin (NAFAA). In 2001 he entered to post-graduate course in NAFAA. In 2003 he defended his Ph.D. thesis and received science degree: candidate of art. In his dissertation Ostap researched the Ukrainian art in the beginning of twenty century. From 2003 he became a chef of exhibitions and information department in Academy of art (NAFAA). From 2004 Ostap teaches in department of painting NAFAA. He takes part in international and Ukrainian exhibitions. He publishes scientific articles about history of Ukrainian art and critical essay about problems in contemporary art in many special scientific and popular editions.

2004 - Ostap is an organizer of international art project “Kiev- Vilnius, the past and the present”. Artist from Ukraine and Lithuania took part in this exhibition.

His painting presents in museums and private collections Ukraine, Canada, Germany, USA, Lithuania, Switzerland, England, France, South Korea, Argentina, Lebanon, Estonia, Latvia, Georgia, Sweden, Armenia and in other country.
Except his basic profession painting, he also made sculpture, drawing. He has taken up photography. Ostap created performance and writes poetries. He likes to paint flowers and female portraits, architecture and all other too. As more he is doing as more he is disclosing creative ability. He works in many genres. There is historical theme, abstract, landscape, portraits, still-life. There are technique oil painting, tempera, watercolor, acryl paint, different mix paints and lacquers, application. He needs to know all this when painter chooses method and technique in each concrete case. Technique and materiel play very important role in fine art so why he tries to pay attention to all details. Painter takes responsibility for everything what happened with his painting with time. Ostap has experience in organization of exhibitions and management of the art projects.
